Keri Says…

About

Hiya! I’m Keri, and this is where I babble about what’s on my mind or interesting to me. Not sure if I have an audience, but that’s okay because this is mainly just my outlet! Feel free to drop a comment.

A little about me…

  • I’m 37 years old
  • I’ve never been married
  • I’ve never had children
  • I have the sweetest dog ever, Lady, whom I rescued a couple years ago

Things I enjoy…

  • spending time with my family, my boyfriend, my friends and my dog, Lady
  • snuggling with my man and watching my favorite Showtime shows: Dexter, US of Tara, Nurse Jackie, Shameless, Weeds…
  • going to see good live music
  • discovering new music (whether it’s brand spanking new or just something I’ve never heard before)
  • the beach
  • traveling
  • kayaking
  • indulging in delicious food
  • doing artsy/crafty things like painting & decoupage
  • retro pinup art
  • dia de los muertos art
  • expressionist and fauvist art
  • interior decorating

I currently live in Chesapeake, Virginia with my boyfriend, Erik. Very suburban. Not my thing, but it’ll do for now. The upside is I have my very own condo that my very hard-working, handy boyfriend remodeled for me, and I’ve been having fun making it cozy and inviting. All the time (about a year) I spent holed up in my mom’s house while in transition, I was watching HGTV and dyadreaming about how awesome it would be to have my own space again… Privacy. Silence. My own kitchen. A loft. The ability to walk around naked if I so please. It’s fantastic. And nobody can take it away from me. I am so blessed….

In the past few years I…

  • survived breast cancer (4 surgeries and chemo)
  • managed an Indie rock band (FUN!!!!)
  • have had a roller coaster of a love life (it’s finally turning into more of the ferris wheel, which I like way better)
  • have been reunited with my high school sweetheart (think The Notebook meets Grosse Pointe Blank)

I’m kind of at a career crossroads since I left my graphic design job at the magazine I worked at for 5 years in South Florida. Not sure what direction I want to go in next… another design job? freelance? teaching? back to school? Dunno. Until I figure it out, I’ll be working with my friend at her business learning something entirely new to add to my resume.

Currently…

  • In July, I’ll be starting studio art classes at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia Beach. I am SO excited to get back into being creative and artsy again. That part of my life has been dormant for way too long. I have been feeling like my soul is withered without it.
  • I am adjusting to domestic life. It’s been a while since I’ve lived with anyone in a domestic situation. So far it’s been really nice.
  • I am learning patience with others, to let go of expectations of others, to be more accepting of others.
  • I still have about 20-25 pounds to lose. It has been a struggle staying on track. I have all the tools and knowledge, I just need to stick with it and learn moderation.

Here’s to the next chapter!

      Hi Ty!

Thanks for saying hello. I’ve been enjoying your blog since you started it. I’m definitely not a vegan, but I happen to love a lot of vegan food. When I’m in a food rut, recipes like the ones you post help get me excited about eating fresh, healthy foods again.

I have let my blog fall by the wayside. But this little reminder has made me realize it’s time to update my About page, and maybe I’ll start blogging again. :)

Take care. Hope all is well.
